Campaign

The good thing is that their green side mission only requires map tiles from the core box. Once you got them, the first thing you notice on their deployment card is that they come with 2 times 11 Health for their 8 deployment cost. Their Speed of 4 and them being melee attackers make them a bit fiddly to use, though their Cleave 2 Surge Ability certainly is nice once you get them into position. Also, with Fury, they get a free surge once they suffered enough damage. Keep in mind that their value increases if you can heal them somehow, so playing them with the new droid hero MHD-19 from the Return to Hoth box might be a good idea.

To recruit the Wookie Warriors as Allies for your campaign, you need to win the side mission Brute Force included in this ally pack. This mission is playable with just the tiles from the Core Box!

Skirmish

Looking at their deployment card, they seem to be designed to stand toe to toe with the Royal Guards. For the same deployment cost, you get 3 more Health, about equal damage output and Cleave 2. They still lack reach and are slower with Speed 4 compared to the Speed 5 from the Guards. To help them push over the edge, the pack comes with the skirmish upgrade card Fury of Kashyyyk, which replicates Gaarkahn’s hero ability to get focused after suffering 3 or more damage in a single attack. It does cost 2 Deployment Points, but still can up the damage of the Wookies pretty good. You can also attach it to either Gaarkahn or Chewbacca, but of course it is best used on a group with 2 figures so you can make use of it longer.

As for command cards, the pack comes with Parting Blow, so if you don’t want to buy the Royal Guard Champion pack for that, you don’t have to anymore. With Wild Fury, you can upgrade a creature or wookie for a round. Creature targets might include the Wampa from the Return to Hoth box or an elite Nexu. There is also Improvised Weapons to make use of your Wookies even if you can’t reach a target this round. It is rather weak since you attack ranged with a green and yellow die, and you can’t trigger any (Surge) Abilities.

The included skirmish map Development Facility only uses tiles from the core box.

Model

Similar to Chewbacca and Gaarkahn, these are mostly brown. Great to start out since the metal details aren’t too pronounced. But the model doesn’t really ring with them being intimidating. There are better models if you want to impress your opponents with your painted figures.
